PETG is what you reach for when PLA is not quite enough and ABS is more trouble than the part is worth. It is stronger, it copes with heat better, and it shrugs off water and most chemicals. Unlike ABS it prints in the open, without an enclosure and without filling the room with fumes.
PETG flexes and absorbs impact rather than shattering, which makes it right for parts that get used rather than displayed. It stays comfortable in a car, a workshop or a sunlit window, where PLA would start to soften. Because it resists water and chemicals it suits bottles, trays, planters, outdoor fittings and workshop organisers, and with enough perimeters you can get a watertight print out of it. The HS grade is tuned to flow at speed without losing surface quality.
PETG wants a hotter nozzle and a hotter bed than PLA, and a slower maximum speed. It picks up moisture over time, so keep opened spools in a dry box and give a damp one about four hours at 60 °C before you print, otherwise you get bubbles and stringing. A short session tuning retraction removes most of the fine wisps PETG is known for.
